Reporting to the Mill Operations Supervisor or designee, the Level IV Operator is responsible for including but not limited to any area of the mill that the Mill Operations Supervisor or designee assigns to them.  A Level IV Operator must have an in depth understanding of operational and metallurgical aspects within the module they are operating.  

 

Responsibilities:

•    Follow and enforces all established Safety and Standard Operating Procedures
•    Complete work area safety inspections and SETA cards as required
•    Must pass all testing requirements for associated module
•    The Level IV employee must be willing to operate any area module for any amount of time as the needs of the operation dictate
•    Alert control room operator and other departments to irregular/non-compliant conditions
•    Respond quickly to radio calls
•    Maintain a courteous manner (language) in person and on the radio
•    Maintain a positive working relationship with other operators and other groups
•    Provide constructive input with regard to safety and operational issues
•    Apply Hazard Recognition training to daily workplace activities
•    Full knowledge of all that employee has completed a competency including but not limited to   Reagent, Water Treatment Plants, Dewatering, Ball Charger and either Grinding or Flotation basics, as well as all by-pass circuits associated to the above areas
•    Train department personnel in operational areas in the mill including but limited to OIT duties, Reagents, Water Treatment Operations, Dewatering, Ball Charging and or either Flotation and Grinding modules
•    Demonstrate group leadership/mentoring
•    Level IV employee’s plant functions include but are not limited to assist/aid operators and other departments in work areas, demonstrate startup/shutdown procedures, react to tonnage and grade changes in a timely manner, responds to non-compliant/irregular operating parameters, runs equipment in auto to maximize recovery and minimize upsets
•    Complete paperwork and passes on relevant information to the next shift, keeps up to date on procedure changes and passes on information, keeps up to date on operating parameters, reads metallurgist notes and board targets if associated with area, demonstrates group leadership/mentoring, maintains continuity on operating parameters between shifts and with metallurgical targets, monitors all screens and information
•    Complete daily, weekly and monthly area inspection/checks as required in the area assigned
•    Maintain a clean work area and will perform cleanup duties associated to his/her assigned area
•    Operator effectively responds to operational alarms following safe procedures and standard practices
•    Operate SAG mill to maximize tonnage without having grind outs, operates flotation circuits to maximize tonnage, grade and recovery when working in these modules
•    Employee will commit to all other duties assigned to by shift supervisor or designee

Qualifications

•    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Three (3) years’ experience in Mill Operations or equivalent
•    Able to lift 75 lbs on a regular basis 
•    Capable of wearing PPE including; hard hat, respirator, safety glasses, steel toed boots, hearing protection, or any other Personal Protective Equipment.  
•    Highly motivated 
•    Follow directions
•    Be a team player 
•    Work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions 
•    Desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks and duties in the Mill Operations department
