Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, incumbents of the Millwright Maintenance Progression will install, maintain, dismantle and overhaul machinery, such as heavy mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.

 

Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on site with 2 weeks off site

Responsibilities:

•    Install, align, take apart and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools
•    Operate hoisting and lifting devices, such as cranes, jacks and tractors, to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery
•    Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions; install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls
•    Dismantle machines, assembles, installs and aligns equipment and machinery such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails; constructs foundations for machines; a variety of equipment may be used to make customized parts or to complete repairs
•    Complete routine tasks such as lubrication of machinery, seal replacement, cleaning of parts during an overhaul and preventative maintenance
•    Interact with a variety of employees on the property such as operators, engineering, trades and operating supervision on methods, procedures and hazards in order to coordinate the services of other trades and service personnel in the planning of their portion of the job; prioritizing work on a daily basis utilizing the Maintenance Order System; estimating material costs and labour hours on jobs and troubleshooting plant equipment
•    Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
•    Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
•    Ensures compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
•    Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

•    Journeyperson Millwright or have seven (7) or more years’ or proven experience in heavy industrial maintenance which includes pumps, conveyors, welding, alignment, heavy rigging, compressors, crushers and sag and ball mills
•    Capability of working with engineered drawings
•    Adhere to high safety standards
•    Work day, afternoon, or night shifts as required
•    Team player and able to communicate well with others
•    Highly motivated and have ability to perform tasks with limited direction
•    Work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
•    Perform labor intensive work when required
•    Ability to obtain a valid driver license is desirable
•    Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft office applications
