Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Helicopter Flight Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support and flight tracking to the 2025 exploration drilling program. This support comprises a range of administrative and safety focused duties including but not limited to documentation and flight tracking of exploration helicopters which support the field and drilling programs, keeping track of personnel locations in the field, monitoring radio for any emergencies that occur, informing Geologists when support is needed in the field and when core is bought to site, file management, and supporting Project Management as directed a supervisor.
The rotation schedule for this opportunity will be an even rotation, 2 weeks on-site with 1 week off-site.
Responsibilities:
• Fully embrace Teck’s core values. One way this is demonstrated is by attending and actively participating in daily safety meetings
• Flight following of exploration helicopters on site
• Record information in a flight following form that is relayed by the pilot on a given flight, including personnel movements and cargo sling loads. The flight coordinator will also need to be familiar with the project Emergency Response Plan in relation to field and helicopter activities
• Participate in pre-shift helicopter operational meetings
• Regular, clear radio communication with helicopter and field crews a key part of day-to-day responsibility
• Communicate needs of field crews to appropriate individuals in the office and core sheds
• Document location and name of individuals in all crews heading out in the field and ensure they are equipped with proper field safety gear
• Assist project management and other administrative assistants with file management, scanning, data entry and any other administrative tasks
• Help maintain good housekeeping in the office areas
• Work effectively with a large, diverse team, and maintain a safe and respectful workplace
• Carry out workplace inspections, identify hazards and hazard mitigation solutions, and report unsafe conditions and behaviors
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Individuals must be self-motivated and driven
• Must be comfortable using handheld radios
• File management, spreadsheet (MS Excel), and word processing (MS Word) skills sufficient to efficiently store and retrieve files, prepare, and maintain personnel schedules, and prepare daily reports with little or no supervision
• Ability to work on day and night shift as required
• Familiarity with an exploration drilling program is a strong asset
• No previous helicopter related work experience is required
