The Driller/Blaster demonstrates an understanding of storage and handling explosives. The incumbent also operates light vehicles for the mine department following all safety regulations and procedures
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site
Reporting to the General Supervisor, HE Shop
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the health and safety of all team members by promoting and enforcing safe work procedures which includes hazard identification and mitigation
• Oversee and deliver on quality maintenance and repair of light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment to meet availability and reliability targets
• Enable a safe and efficient shop by implementing and promoting shop organization and cleanliness standards and tool management programs
• Manage daily and weekly work schedules to ensure work is complete safely and on schedule, including coordination of break-in work
• Direct the troubleshooting of equipment failure to determine root cause and initiate appropriate remedial action
• Attend and participate in various daily and weekly meetings to communicate status of repairs, expected timelines to return to service, and emerging concerns or delays
• Assist the planning department in the development of the weekly shop schedule
• Provide feedback to the planning, engineering, and leadership teams to highlight emerging equipment health concerns
• Manage and maintain all team members work schedule, vacation allotments, and daily time cards
• Manage key performance indicators such as downtime hours, schedule compliance, and break in percentage
• Facilitate routine crew meetings such as daily lineouts and monthly safety meetings
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Must be a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with a minimum seven (7) years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment
• Must have at least one (1) year of lead-hand Supervisory experience
• Must have a working knowledge of MSHA
• Excellent interpersonal abilities, self-motivated, and have a strong desire to lead and train others
• Highly motivated team player
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (excel, word)
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities
• Proven and exemplary leadership skills
