Role Overview
Flight Follower will routinely interact with Teck personnel responsible for the management and execution of the 2026 exploration program as well as work closely with drilling and helicopter contractor and subcontractor personnel including radio communication and monitoring. The Flight Follower will report to the exploration project manager.
Rotational schedule will be 2 weeks onsite with 1 week offsite
Key Responsibilities
• Fully embrace Teck’s core values
• Attend and actively participate in daily safety meetings and pre-shift helicopter meetings
• Record helicopter flight information such as personal and sling loads in a form that is relayed by the pilot on a given flight
• Engage in regular, clear radio communication with helicopter pilots and field crews as a key part of day-to-day responsibility
• Document the location and name of all individuals heading to the field and ensure they are equipped with proper field safety gear prior to leaving
• Be familiar with the project Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in relation to field and helicopter activities and be able to assist with radio communications, notifications and documentation in the event of an emergency
• Communicate needs of field crews to appropriate individuals in the office and core sheds
• Assist project management and administrative assistants with file management such as scanning documents, data entry and any other administrative tasks.
• Help maintain good housekeeping in the office areas
• Carry out workplace inspections, identify hazards and hazard mitigation solutions, and report unsafe conditions and behaviors
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong and effective communication skill
• Individuals must be self-motivated, driven and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be comfortable using handheld radios
• Familiarity with file management, spreadsheet (MS Excel), and word processing (MS Word) skills sufficient to efficiently store and retrieve files, prepare, and maintain personnel schedules, and prepare daily reports with little or no supervision
• Ability to work on day and night shift as required
• Ability to work effectively with a large, diverse team, and maintain a safe and respectful workplace
• Familiarity with an exploration drilling program is a strong asset
• No previous helicopter related work experience is required
