The Electrical and Instrumental Apprentice Progression plan and perform the design, configuration, calibration, installation, adjustment, maintenance and repair of any type of measuring, analytical and process control instruments; to investigate process control problems and resolve related instrument malfunctions.

 

Reporting to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor


Rotational Schedule will be an even rotation

Responsibilities:

•    Apply understanding of electrical components of the Mill, Mine and Camp facilities and basic electrical theory
•    Maintain proficiency with the design and construction of new electrical installations, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and checking pumps and ventilation systems
•    Possess general understanding of process control systems
•    Apply process and engineering calculations to size, specify, and select process instrumentation and industrial electrical equipment
•    Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot complex motor control circuits, understand electrical schematics drawings and wiring diagrams, utilize electrical test equipment, and troubleshoot Powerhouse Generators
•    Utilize instrument test equipment to monitor equipment and provide maintenance recommendations, installing, programming and troubleshooting AC Variable Speed Drives
•    Have a good understanding of Instrumentation basics such as level and pressure transmitters and have the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation analog circuits, have a basic understanding of PLC and relay logic
•    Utilize experience working with 480 Volt and 4160 Volt electrical gear including testing breakers, switchgear and cables
•    Communicate effectively with other trade personnel, colleague and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
•    Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (Mining Safety Health Administration and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
•    Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
•    Perform other related duties as assigned
 

Qualifications:

•    High school diploma or equivalent
•    Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in industrial Electrical Maintenance is required with preferred mining experience
•    Electrical Journeyperson License is not required but would be preferred. Looking for Maintenance Electricians, not construction Electricians
•    Physically capable of performing essential functions in the electrical trade, within a mill environment for 11.5 hours per day
•    Willing to train and mentor apprentices
•    Strong team cooperation is required
•    Ability to perform tasks with limited direction
•    Must work safely and follow instructions, also have a good safety record and provide references for past work experience
•    Must be willing to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
