Teck's Corporate Office in Santiago is the administrative center for our mining operations in Chile, providing support to Quebrada Blanca (QB) in the Tarapacá Region and Carmen de Andacollo in Coquimbo.

Located in the heart of Santiago, our office connects global expertise with world-class mining projects.

 

Role Overview

Reporting to the Global Director of Engineering, Studies, and Project Management, the Project Lead will be responsible for leading a defined scope within a larger capital project, generating value and mitigating risks associated with that scope. The Project Lead must meet the objectives established for their area of responsibility, aligned with the overall business case and critical success factors such as occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, sustainability, schedule, cost, and quality.

 

This position is based in Santiago, Chile, with permanent travel within the country, including to operations located at high altitudes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, promoting Teck’s values and embedding a strong HSEC (Health, Safety, Environment, and Community) culture.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and environmentally responsible workplace, promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Lead the project scope and establish an execution framework that ensures quality, value, and timely delivery of the business case within the broader project.
  • Implement the scope of work in alignment with the Teck Project Development Framework, identifying opportunities to improve organizational practices.
  • Develop commercial and contract management strategies, overseeing service providers, contractors, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare staffing plans and coordinate with functional leaders to ensure the team has the appropriate skills, capabilities, and resources.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, ranging from operations and maintenance personnel to steering committees and board members.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience across various phases of study and execution of medium-scale, complex projects, ideally within the mining industry.
  • Strong understanding of workflows across both technical and non-technical disciplines, with the ability to identify gaps and bottlenecks and propose effective adjustments.
  • Proven experience in identifying risks related to project or study scope and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency in contract management, including contract administration and dispute resolution.
  • Fluent in Spanish and intermediate proficiency in English.
