About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.
 
Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences. 

 

Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Coordinator is accountable for implementing project administration and supporting the execution of projects. The role supports the Highland Valley Mine Life Extension (HVC MLE) project and encompasses the implementation of project administration systems, advising project teams on best practices, and collaborating across departments to implement project efficiency.

Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and sustainability rules and procedures.
  • Ensure timely and efficient communication of key project information to internal and external stakeholders, fostering alignment and expectation management.
  • Organize and arrange key project meetings; prepare and distribute meeting minutes, track follow-up actions.
  • Manage project collaboration tools and groups, oversee access and usage, and support collaboration with document management team members to ensure system security, efficiency, and functionality.
  • Engage in cross-functional alignment between key project disciplines such as IDM, Engineering, Project Controls, Contracts, and Construction.
  • Maintain project documentation such as reports, meeting minutes, and action trackers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support preparation of proposals, study reports, and project documents.
  • Format project documents and presentations in accordance with visual standards and project branding guidelines.
  • Support with calendar management and manage project travel through estimation, gathering approval and bookings.
  • Prepare monthly expenses for Project Director and others as required.
  • Coordinate logistics related to accommodation, site access, and travel approvals.
  • Coordinate project onboarding and orientations.
  • Develop solid understanding of cross-functional project administration processes in preparation for more advanced coordination responsibilities.

Qualifications

 

  • University or college degree / diploma in Business Administration, or other related disciplines from an accredited institution will be considered an asset.
  • 5 or more years of proven experience in administrative support.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas.
  • Strong learning agility with a continuous improvement mindset and openness to feedback.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a strategic and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry is considered highly valuable.

 

Pay Range: CAD $74,000 - $92,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.


Working Conditions:

  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
