Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Temporary Port Electrician at the Port
Rotation schedule will be two weeks on-site and one week off-site or four weeks on site and two weeks off-site
Reporting to the Port Facility Supervisor:
Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily
• workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
• Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises Performs electrical installations, trouble shooting and repairing of electrical power systems including control circuits, variable speed drives, heat trace, cranes and switches
• Operate and troubleshoot the Port power generation system
• Perform preventative maintenance, and checking of pumps and ventilation systems.
• Maintain, install, repair and trouble shoot conveying systems, electric motors, power generations, lighting, electrical equipment
• Utilize instrument test equipment to monitor equipment and provide maintenance recommendations
• Communicate effectively with other trade personnel, colleague and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Journeyperson Electrician with a minimum of ten (10) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
• Current valid driver’s license
• Ability to troubleshoot simple motor control circuits, understand electrical schematics and wire diagrams, install flow pressure and level meters, PLC operational trouble shooting and utilize electrical test equipment
• Basic computer skills’ including proficiency with Microsoft office applications is required
• Physically capable of performing essential functions in the electrical trade.
• Willing to train and mentor apprentices.
• Strong team player, active communication and cooperation is required.
• Able to perform tasks with limited direction.
• Work safely by upholding CSL values and behaviors and follow instructions.
• Work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
• Work day or night shifts as required
• Obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
