Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Port Millwright Journeyperson.
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site
Reporting to Port Facility Supervisor
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as comply with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensure daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
- Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advise coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
- Install, maintain, dismantle and overhaul machinery, such as heavy mechanical equipment and conveyor systems
- Perform routine maintenance on port conveyor belts
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions; install and troubleshoot equipment
- Complete routine tasks such as lubrication of machinery, seal replacement, and preventative maintenance
- Operate forklift, boom truck, and other port equipment when required
- Provide building and facility repair such as plumbing, carpentry, troubleshooting, and replace and repair
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- 10 years of experience as a Journeyperson Millwright in heavy industrial setting conducting maintenance on pumps, conveyors, gear boxes and roll up doors and baghouse maintenance; experience welding, conducting alignments, heavy rigging and fabrication with a strong building / facility repair ability (carpentry, flooring, plumbing, etc.)
- 3 Years of Machinist Experience
- Current valid driver’s license
- Good Understanding of Hydraulic components and the ability to troubleshoot failures.
- Able to work cooperatively with others
- Able to manage time independently with limited supervision
- Possess good communication skills
- Committed to safety
- Able to train apprentices
- Able to perform labor intensive work when required
- Able to work day or night shifts as required
- Able to work outside during inclement weather as assigned
- Able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
