Role Overview
Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Mine Surveyor. Due to anticipated needs, we are currently recruiting for a career oriented individual to fill this role.
Rotation schedule will be an even rotation.
Reporting to the Survey Lead
Key Responsibilities
• Provide production surveying services to support operations and planning groups.
• Perform periodic monitoring as required of structures, roads, and water levels.
• Perform as-built surveys of blast patterns, highwalls, waste dumps, utilities and facilities.
• Complete volumetric surveys of stockpiled material.
• Locate buried utilities and issue dig permits.
• Maintain Master Utility files used in dig permitting process.
• Coordinate work and communicate between planning, blasting, geology and production departments by using maps, log books, radio and face-to-face encounters.
• UAV / Drone data collection and processing.
• Assist with construction project surveying as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience, preferably in an open pit mining environment as a surveyor or mine technician is preferred. Compensation rate will be relative to experience
• Working knowledge of surveying equipment (RTK GPS, Total Stations, Terrestrial Scanners and Digital Levels)
• Working knowledge of office civil / survey software (Autodesk Civil3D, Trimble Business Center)
• Excellent record keeping skills
• Knowledge of calculations, boundary closures, vertical bench loop closures and adjustments
• Have the ability to prepare maps, records, and documents related to survey work
• Valid FAA Part 107 license for sUAS / Drone operations or ability to obtain
• Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
• Excellent people, project, and time management skills
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and Windows environment with intermediate abilities in Excel
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
