Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the Maintenance & Asset Management Department in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the mine’s concentrator facility equipment. This role provides hands-on experience in mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and reliability engineering practices within a dynamic industrial environment.

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Participate in reliability improvement projects, including equipment upgrades and process optimization
Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for maintenance activities
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards during all tasks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, reliability, and safety personnel
Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Completed coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and machine design preferred
Basic understanding of industrial mechanical systems and maintenance principles
Proven work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take initiative
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to safety and attention to detail
