Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the Maintenance & Asset Management Department in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the mine’s concentrator facility equipment. This role provides hands-on experience in mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and reliability engineering practices within a dynamic industrial environment.
 
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Participate in reliability improvement projects, including equipment upgrades and process optimization
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company standards during all tasks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, reliability, and safety personnel
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Completed coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and machine design preferred
  • Basic understanding of industrial mechanical systems and maintenance principles
  • Proven work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take initiative
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to safety and attention to detail
