Role Overview

Reporting to the Acting Director, Finance, Reporting & Compliance, the Manager, Technical Accounting & Reporting plays a critical role in providing global technical accounting leadership across the organization. This role is responsible for leading complex IFRS accounting analyses, supporting significant judgment areas such as impairment and valuation and contributing to high quality financial reporting. This is a highly visible position that engages with senior leadership, mine site finance teams and external auditors.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of successfully working with complex accounting analyses and have a strong foundation in preparing public financial reports. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, analytical skills and organizational capabilities will be key to success.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Lead the analysis and conclusion of complex IFRS technical accounting matters across the organization
- Review technical accounting analyses prepared by Senior Technical Accountants and other team members to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality
- Play a key role in the preparation and review of Teck’s external financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and public reporting requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact with external auditors on complex accounting issues
- Collaborate with stakeholders across areas such as Corporate Development, Tax, Legal and operations to provide timely and practical accounting expertise for various initiatives
- Coordinate the identification and assessment of indicators of impairment across the organization, not limited to metal prices, discount rates, mine plans, reserve and resource reports and feasibility studies
- Support impairment testing and valuation process, including collection and review of data, and preparation or review of valuation analyses using different fair value models and approaches
- Identify proficiencies required to be successful and develop realistic plans to address gaps
- Lead with integrity, accountability and a commitment to delivering high quality outcomes and act on opportunities for continuous improvement
- Demonstrate an eagerness to listen and learn while driven in the pursuit of excellence
Qualifications
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required
- Proven experience analyzing and resolving IFRS technical accounting issues is required
- Big 4 Accounting Firm experience, with 10 years of post-qualification validated experience is required
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and its practical application in complex environments
- Advanced Excel skills required to perform accounting computations and to run accounting software add-ons.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, collaborate and build effective relationships across all levels of the organization
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to technical and financial detail
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills and consistently produces high quality work in a fast-paced environment
Pay Range: CAD $150,000 - $185,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
