About Highland Valley Copper
Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Logging Geologist will demonstrate strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with the ability to stay organized and effectively prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. As a motivated self-starter, the successful candidate will also support the broader geology team by updating Leapfrog models, contributing to geometallurgical initiatives, and assisting with data management and QA/QC processes.

- Ensure a safe and efficient workflow in the core facility through safety inspections and ensuring good housekeeping practice
- Complete accurate, high-quality drill logs using available geochemical and hyperspectral data
- Oversee the collection of geotechnical data and verify its accuracy and completeness
- Communicate effectively with the geology team on drill hole progress, observations and key findings
- Support data management activities including QA/QC of geological and geoscience data sets
- Assist with the selection and tracking of Geometallurgy samples
- Contribute to updating and refining geological models using Leapfrog
- Ensure all core logging activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related discipline
- Membership with, or eligibility for registration as a Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in porphyry exploration or mining operation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient computer skills; experience with machine learning applications is considered a strong asset
- Experience with Leapfrog geological modeling software is considered a strong asset
Pay Range: CAD $107,000 - $132,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
