Reporting to the Technology Manager, Copper Growth, the Technology Deployment Lead represents Teck Digital Systems (TDS) and will be the main point of contact for the deployment of technology for Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Mine Life Extension (MLE) project, part of TDS Copper Growth program. This motivated individual is responsible for on-site supervision and technical leadership to successfully deliver, install, commission, and  transition to operations the technology required to support HVC MLE project. Teck’s Copper Growth program is a multi-year strategy to provide our world with the critical copper to support energy transition. Teck has potential to develop 10 new mining operations in the next decade! The TDS Copper Growth Program has the goal to deliver and deploy technologies for these operations in a cost effective, consistent, and scalable way.

Responsibilities

 

    • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
    • Coordinate on-site field work activities for technology delivery, installation, commissioning and transition to operations alongside work with union site and contract resources.
    • Work with on-site resources to plan and schedule project field work activities while assisting corporate project managers
    • Act as the “bridge” between corporate teams (project managers, technology managers, IT/OT specialists) and on-site teams (project team, local resources and contractors)
    • Contribute to reporting, information management, and communication from multiple information channels
    • Ensure execution of all stages of projects are conducted in a responsible, safe manner while guaranteeing there are no unreasonable risks taken that may jeopardize safety
    • Coordinate and manage team members and contractors working on the project at site, following the site contractor management policies and procedures
    • Collaborate with project team members to plan, request and acquire required resources to meet deliverables
    • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and logistics for project and program purposes
    • Solve problems by identifying, resolving, and advancing any issues and risks as and when required

 

Qualifications

 

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in engineering or applied technology.
    • 5-10 years of experience managing technology projects deployment in a large sophisticated industrial operation. Mining experience is considered an asset.
    • Practical experience working on industrial automation, networking or IT/OT projects ranging from $1 – 10M.
    • Strong negotiation skills and experience working with unions
    • Comfortable working independently with some ambiguity and moving things to clarity
    • Strong vendor management capabilities, including experience with contracts
    • Strong coordination and organizational skills, a great teammate and collaborator
    • Meticulous with a propensity for pragmatism; strives to get the job done right
    • Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English at both technical and management levels
    • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint
