Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Occupational Health and Hygiene, the Technician, Occupational Health and Hygiene is responsible to provide daily operational support for health and hygiene program execution at our Highland Valley Copper Operations.

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain records for physical and chemical exposure databases.
  • Manage data access programs, including SDS programs, exposure logs, device calibrations, employee file entries, and SharePoint program sites.
  • Oversee industrial scientific gas detection programs, including departmental device support (calibration, gas replacement, troubleshooting, device repair, shipment, and receipt of devices).
  • Maintain internal departmental devices such as pumps, monitors, and testing equipment for health and hygiene.
  • Conduct and certify fit testing.
  • Execute sampling programs for personal and area sampling related to air quality, noise exposure, and thermal stress.
  • Support the deployment of programs aimed at exposure reduction and occupational health improvement.
  • Conduct verification activities to support risk profiles related to health and hygiene.
  • Perform workplace assessments to identify potential health risks from chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
  • Support field program execution, including confined space entry, noise exposure, chemical exposure, hazardous materials exposure, and piping identification.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide recommendations.
  • Oversee program deployment, including managing consultants, initiative rollouts, and regular interactions with field crews.
  • Plan and schedule OH&H programs, such as vaccine clinics, hearing monitoring, spirometry, personal monitoring, bulk sample collection, and sampling requirements.
  • Support change management processes for program deployment or improvement.

Qualifications

 

  • Diploma or certificate in Industrial Hygiene or a science related field of study such as chemistry, biology or environmental science.
  • Possesses or in the process of possessing additional certification as an occupational hygiene technician or field related experience equivalency with the ability to work towards certification.
  • Experience in occupational health and hygiene related programs.
  • Strong digital literacy, particularly with Microsoft office as well as ability to navigate additional platforms and programs.
  • Ability to work on field based tasks with key stakeholder with little guidance.

Salary Range: $73,000 - $90,000

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
