As a key member of the Supply Chain team, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of warehouse activities at Highland Valley Copper. This role ensures the integrity of inventory, supports operational excellence, and fosters a culture aligned with Teck’s core values: Safety, Sustainability, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence.

 

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative leader with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently while effectively supporting a unionized team environment.

Responsibilities

 

  • Be a Courageous Safety Leader: Champion a culture of safety by adhering to and promoting Teck’s health, safety, and environmental standards. Lead by example in all safety practices and ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, coach, and mentor warehouse personnel. Provide clear direction, conduct training and cross-training, and support professional development to build a high-performing team.
  • Inventory & Materials Management: Oversee the accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of materials. Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation of variances. Implement best practices in inventory control and warehouse layout optimization.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor warehouse KPIs and transactional data to ensure service levels meet operational requirements. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in line with Lean principles and Teck’s commitment to excellence.
  • Asset & Facility Management: Ensure warehouse infrastructure, equipment, and tools are maintained to safe and operational standards. Coordinate preventative maintenance and ensure compliance with safety inspections and certifications.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Operations teams to ensure timely and accurate material availability. Foster respectful and effective communication across departments and with external vendors.
  • Sustainability & Compliance: Support Teck’s sustainability goals by promoting responsible resource use, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship within warehouse operations.
  • Budgeting & Planning: Assist in the development and management of warehouse budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning. Monitor expenditures and implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive warehouse experience in a mining, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a unionized setting.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, warehouse best practices, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a continuous improvement mindset.

Salary Range: $106,000 - $131,000
