Reporting to the Mill Operations General Supervisor, the Supervisor Mill Operations will be responsible for the operation to meet operating targets for safety, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
In this role you will promote a workplace environment which supports safe and efficient behavior on the job and an awareness of and compliance with environmental, safety and Mine Act requirements.
Responsibilities
- Act as a courageous safety leader, championing and enforcing safety and environmental rules and procedures while integrating engineering best practices to mitigate risks and promote a culture of safety.
- Lead or actively participate in monthly crew safety meetings, incorporating technical insights to address operational hazards and foster engagement.
- Actively supervise operations hourly employees, ensuring the completion and quality of assigned work while leveraging process engineering knowledge to enhance efficiency, optimize throughput, recovery rates, and resource utilization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying process engineering, metallurgical expertise, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve operational challenges, improving mill performance, reducing downtime, and enhancing cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure production targets are met or exceeded through data-driven decision-making, process optimization, and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee the maintenance of minimum training requirements and re-certifications for hourly employees, ensuring alignment with operational demands and technical standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement engineering solutions that support operational goals and improve overall performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field is a major asset; alternatively, completion of Grade 12 or equivalent with a strong combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-5 years of relevant supervisory experience, ideally in mineral processing or mill operations, with a focus on applying engineering principles to enhance operational efficiency.
- Strong technical proficiency in process optimization, metallurgical analysis, and operational troubleshooting; familiarity with process simulation software or data analysis tools (e.g., PI System, MATLAB, Parcview, IP21) is an advantage.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, is required.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to guide teams in both technical and operational contexts.

Salary Range:$105,000 - $129,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
