We are looking for a proactive and experienced Superintendent, Maintenance Planning and Scheduling to lead the planning and scheduling functions across both mill and mine operations. This pivotal leadership role is accountable for overseeing the end-to-end work management process, supporting long-term maintenance strategy, and ensuring the efficient execution of maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will lead a team of planners and schedulers, develop a comprehensive three-year maintenance strategy, and play a key role in annual budget planning to drive asset reliability and maintain production performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance planning and scheduling team, including organizational structure, staffing, and development of roles and responsibilities.
  • Lead and mentor planners to ensure efficient scheduling and execution of work orders, optimal use of labor resources, and timely procurement of spare parts.
  • Oversee the planning process for both fixed plant and mobile equipment within the mill and mine environments.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are effectively prioritized and scheduled in collaboration with operations and maintenance execution teams.
  • Drive adherence to the work management process, from notification to execution and close-out
  • Optimize maintenance planning using SAP, ensuring accurate asset hierarchies, BOMs, maintenance strategies, and criticality rankings.
  • Lead the planning and execution of major shutdowns and outages, including development of detailed Gantt charts, resource planning, contractor coordination, and alignment with production teams.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and on-time completion of shutdown activities for both wet and dry plant systems.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling three-year maintenance capital budget, aligned with asset management and production goals.
  • Provide input into long-range planning, capital forecasting, and annual maintenance budget development.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Reliability teams to align budgeted maintenance activities with cost and performance targets.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure timely availability of materials, proper kitting, and on-site delivery of components and spares to support scheduled maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, or Maintenance Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, in a mining or industrial processing environment.
  • 5+ years superintendent-level experience.
  • Proven background in both fixed plant and mobile equipment maintenance environments.
  • Exceptional Proficiency in SAP strong understanding of CMMS functionality and asset configuration.
  • Skilled in developing and managing maintenance KPIs, work backlogs, and asset health reports.
  • Competent in the use of planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) for shutdowns and long-term scheduling.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across operations, maintenance, supply chain, and finance teams.
  • High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Certification in Maintenance Planning, Reliability, or Asset Management (e.g., CMRP, CRL).
  • Experience in budgeting, cost control, and capital planning.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement frameworks such as Lean or Six Sigma.

Salary Range: $147,000 - $182,000

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
