Reporting to the Leadership & Development Superintendent, the Senior Training Supervisor is responsible for training, instructing, and evaluating employees in both classroom and field environments. This person will be responsible for the supervision and scheduling of Mine Operations trainers. The primary focus will be on Mine Operations although will involve other departments when necessary.

 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with outstanding interpersonal, and communication skills; a motivated self-starter, who can remain organized and prioritize contending demands in a fast-paced team environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures;
  • Deliver training aligned with safe work procedures and site-specific requirements (simulator, classroom, and field).
  • Assess employees’ ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently, as well as perform routine tasks to expected standards.
  • Design and update training materials to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Ensure Mine training offerings meet operational standards.
  • Monitor and coach Trainers, Trainees, and Relief Training Supervisors.
  • Foster engagement and collaboration across training teams.
  • Maintain strong communication with site departments to align training with operational needs, advocate for necessary resources, and ensure consistent adherence to training standards across all crews.
  • Ensure all roles have required training assigned in the LMS.
  • Manage CAP task completion and delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Assist with field follow-ups, classroom sessions, and meetings.
  • Manage contracts and coordinate with external training providers.
  • Continuously assess training materials and resources for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Gr.12 or equivalent;
  • Exemplary safety leadership;
  • Minimum 4 years of Learning Management System administration experience including: scheduling classes, assigning training courses, recording completions and working with assignment profiles;
  • Valid BC Mine Supervisor Certification;
  • Experience setting up and executing Training Programs;
  • Certificate of completion for a 3rd party Instructor course;
  • Minimum five years of open pit mining or training with experience ;
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and energetic;
  • Able to work and collaborate in a team environment;
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, People Central, SAP Learning Management and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to keep accurate records of training events;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Salary Range: CAD $119,000 - $148,000 per year

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
