The Senior Reliability Lead, Mobile Maintenance plays a pivotal role in shaping how we care for, operate, and continuously improve our mobile equipment fleet across our operations. Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent, this position is responsible for driving the development, implementation, and optimization of modern maintenance strategies, reliability technologies, and asset health practices that support safe, efficient, and predictable equipment performance.

 

This role is central to embedding leading reliability principles, such as defect elimination, condition-based maintenance, data-driven decision making into daily practice. It is well suited for someone who wants to influence reliability outcomes across a large, multi-site organization and who brings experience in turning analysis into action, coaching teams, and building systems that improve equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.

 

To excel in this role, the Senior Reliability Lead must bring strong analytical and problem-solving capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and collaborate across maintenance, operations, engineering, and supply teams. Key Responsibilities

 

Courageous Safety Leadership (CSL)

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Implement and continuously improve asset maintenance programs to reduce costs and increase the availability of rotating equipment

 

Reliability Strategy

  • Develop and improve reliability strategies for the mobile equipment fleet using frameworks like FMEA, CBM, and defect elimination.
  • Align maintenance strategies with corporate asset management standards.

 

Maintenance Program Optimization

  • Build and refine preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve availability and reduce failures.
  • Integrate new reliability technologies and onboard health systems into maintenance processes.

 

Asset Health & Performance

  • Monitor fleet performance and equipment health using data and analytics.
  • Lead root cause investigations and resolve recurring equipment issues.
  • Communicate critical trends and risks to site teams and leadership.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to embed reliability practices into daily work.
  • Support component strategy, parts planning, and reliability-focused procurement.

 

Technical Leadership

  • Provide coaching and guidance to reliability engineers, planners, and trades.
  • Promote a strong reliability culture and consistent standards across sites.

 

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify and implement new tools, technologies, and processes that improve fleet reliability.
  • Maintain KPIs and dashboards to support visibility and decision-making.

 

Governance & Standardization

  • Ensure reliability processes, reporting, and maintenance practices are aligned across all sites.
  • Support audits, reviews, and performance benchmarking.

 

Safety & Risk Management

  • Embed reliability engineering into safe work practices and equipment risk management.
  • Promote disciplined execution and adherence to safety and maintenance standards.

 

Qualifications

 

Education & Professional Background

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related trade discipline.
  • Professional engineering designation (P.Eng or equivalent) is an asset.
  • 7+ years of experience in mobile maintenance, reliability engineering, or asset management within mining or heavy industry.
  • Strong understanding of reliability principles (RCM, FMEA, defect elimination, condition monitoring).

 

Technical Skills

  • Proven experience improving equipment reliability for large mobile fleets (haul trucks, shovels, loaders, drills, support equipment).
  • Proficient in maintenance systems, analytics tools, and equipment health monitoring platforms.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities with the ability to turn insights into action.
  • Knowledge of planning, scheduling, work management, and lifecycle asset management.

 

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, influence decisions, and build alignment across multi-discipline teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences.
  • Experience coaching and developing reliability or maintenance personnel.
