About Highland Valley Copper
Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Mill Maintenance Planning, the Senior Coordinator, Shutdown will oversee shutdown management across the crushing, grinding, flotation, filtering/drying, reclaim, and leaching areas of the milling complex.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a safe work environment through compliance with Teck’s Health & Safety Program and the BC Mines Act; Participate in pre-shutdown walk-downs to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Lead and develop a team of planners and schedulers related to shutdown area
- Contribute to annual role-specific development plans and track weekly shutdown-related actions to completion.
- Attend and actively participate in shutdown scheduling meetings and planning processes.
- Manage shutdown budgets by monitoring costs, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure shutdown activities meet safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards while mitigating potential risks.
- Lead the development and execution of the Shutdown Management Process, including ownership of the shutdown schedule.
- Communicate with stakeholders to provide updates, feedback, and scope adjustments for improved efficiency.
- Facilitate shutdown planning meetings and track post-shutdown improvement actions. Teck - Internal/Interno
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to secure necessary personnel, equipment, materials, and services, working with supply chain teams to manage inventory and logistics.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Fixed Plant Maintenance and shutdown scheduling
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices
- Experience in a heavy industry or asset management role, with both equipment maintenance and planning experience desirable.
- Proficiency in project management tools, with preference for experience using CMMS systems such as Maximo or SAP, as well as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Demonstrated strong inter-personal relationship skills and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Be a values-based leader who models and makes decisions aligned with Teck’s values of Safety, Integrity, Sustainability, Excellence, Respect and Courage
- Completion of Gr.12 or equivalent
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
Pay Range: CAD $122,000 - $150,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
