About Highland Valley Copper
Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Mine Manager provides leadership and direction for the safe, efficient, and productive execution of mine operations and maintenance. This role is accountable for achieving production, safety, cost, and sustainability performance targets while ensuring operational reliability and proactively managing risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Set strategic direction and vision for mine operations to ensure plan compliance, reliable production, and a culture of rapid, continuous improvement
- Uphold and apply Management Operating System (MOS) standards and principles across all mining processes
- Champion Teck’s commitments to people, health and safety, and sustainability at the site level
- Lead all mine operations and maintenance activities including drill and blast, autonomous and conventional load and haul, mine services, and mobile equipment maintenance
- Monitor and ensure execution against the monthly forecast and annual budget through a cascading KPI structure, ensuring alignment to production, cost, and performance targets
- Manage operational costs in accordance with financial forecasts and business plans
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and risk standards in all operational and maintenance activities, driving a culture of proactive risk identification and mitigation
- Ensure assets are operated and maintained within established standards to achieve equipment availability, utilization, and productivity targets
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure effective execution of action management processes
- Communicate mine performance, risks, and opportunities to key stakeholders
- Identify and implement proactive actions to mitigate risk and minimize operational variance
- Ensure mine teams are properly resourced, trained, and capable to execute the production plan and achieve functional excellence
- Foster a highly collaborative workforce, breaking down silos and ensuring alignment across teams to optimize performance at operational bottlenecks
- Ensure compliance with applicable agreements including Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) and Impact Benefit Agreements (IBA)
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressively senior leadership experience in large-scale open pit mining operations and/or mobile maintenance
- Degree in Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Strong leadership experience across mining production and mobile maintenance environments
- Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams in a complex operating environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement
- Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset

Pay Range: CAD $180,000 - $222,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
