We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our team on the mine site on a two-year contract. The ideal candidate will be a key business partner to operations, supporting them on both projects and operational costs. The role will coordinate the Appropriation Request process and own the monthly project portfolio review. This role plays a critical part in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and management cost reporting of specific projects and departments within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project budgets and costs Collaborate with project managers and the site management team to prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Be a business partner for assigned departments, encouraging collaboration, and improving financial literacy across the organization
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for both project and operating costs
  • Determine accurate Provincial Sales Tax treatment on the project scope
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in audit preparation and respond to inquiries
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing process for project accounts
  • Coordinate the project approval process
  • Continuously review processes for improvement and implement established approaches

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • CPA designation or working towards a CPA designation, demonstrating a strong foundation in accounting principles and regulatory compliance
  • 5+ years of experience in project accounting or financial management
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and other financial reporting tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP or similar ERP systems would be an asset
  • In-depth understanding of project lifecycles, budgeting, forecasting and cost control methodologies
  • Proven track record to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills

Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
