Reporting to the Superintendent – Health, Safety and Risk, the Lead – Health and Safety Systems is responsible the development and execution of the administrative function and system tools to support health, safety and risk activities for the operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing site standards/procedures and tools, facilitating workshops/training, internal and external reporting, performance analytics and metrics to meet Teck corporate standards, legislative requirements and collaboration within the operations to meet and exceed adoption of best practices.
Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader
- Supervise the system and administrative functional support team that managers the systems, platforms, data for Health, safety and risk
- Develop and utilize data trending and analytics to present and align superintendents and team on short-term and long-term plans for operational improvement
- Support the team and operation to project manage key safety initiatives including stakeholder engagement and change management
- Lead collaborative efforts cross-functionally to achieve project targets including within the team function to maximize team members collaboration and contribution.
- Develop metrics for KPI’s and improvements in both quantitative and qualitative H&S programs
- Conduct formal risk assessments, continuous improvement workshops and investigations defining critical risks, verification requirements and quality assurance checks
- Identify, prioritize, and document continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate team members to execute improvement projects
- Inspect, audit and continuously evaluate the health and safety management system, workplace conditions, equipment and processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field, or a combination between relevant education and experience will be considered
- Professional designations, or working towards professional designations (ex: CRSP)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Health and Safety field dedicated to health and safety management systems
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in project management or project coordination
- A solid knowledge of technical health and safety components and theories
- Ability to collaborate and work with all levels of an operation
- Capability to set own agenda to meet business objectives and targets
- Understanding of Change management and Management of change process
- Experience with conflict negotiations and management
- Ability to influence others and demonstrate leadership skills
- Strong written, oral and presentation skills
- Technical writing skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, focuses on priorities, sets objectives and goals, measures performance and evaluates results

Salary Range: $119,000 - $147,000
