Reporting to the Lead Technical Specialist, Strategic Planning, the Logging Geologist will work in the core facility to safely and efficiently process diamond drill core while overseeing the day-to-day work of Geological Technicians and Core Cutters.
Responsibilities include core logging, validation of geotechnical data, use of geochemistry and hyperspectral data to validate interpretations, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the successful candidate must have strong problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills and be a motivated self-starter, who can remain organized and prioritize contending demands in a fast-paced team environment. The successful candidate will also support various team members by updating Leapfrog models, assist in Geometallurgy work, and assist in data management and QAQC.
The typical work shift is Monday to Thursday 10-hour shifts allowing for a great work life balance. This position is part of an 18-month contract (benefits included) and may be extended.
Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Ensure a safe and efficient workflow in the core facility through safety inspections and ensuring good house keeping
- Complete accurate, high-quality drill logs using available geochemical and hyperspectral data
- Over see the collection of, and validate/verify the accuracy of geotechnical data
- Communicate effectively within the team on the progress of drill holes
- Assist with data management and the QAQC of geoscience data
- Assist in the selection of Geometallurgy samples
- Assist in updating geological models using Leapfrog
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Geology or related discipline.
- Membership or eligibility for registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC is required
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in porphyry exploration or mines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong computer skills, experience with Machine Learning is considered a strong asset
- Experience in Leapfrog is considered a strong asset

Salary Range: $103,000- $127,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
