Reporting to the Superintendent, Mill Processing Outside, the General Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and employee development within the Mill Processing Department. This role involves collaborating with Mill Maintenance, Mine Maintenance, Mine Operations, Site Services, Site Engineering, Warehouse, and Mill Processing teams to standardize work requests, lead safety initiatives, manage employee training, and support incident investigations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader, comfortable in a union environment, and adept at driving continuous improvement in a high-stakes industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Act as a courageous safety leader by engaging in the field, conducting Hazard Risk Assessments with cross-functional teams, and supporting safety meetings and corrective actions.
- Systems and Procedures: Develop and implement systems to standardize work requests across the Mill Processing Department.
- Training and Development: Lead employee training, address behavioral concerns, and support supervisor growth, including goal setting, yearly bonus objectives, and holiday coverage planning.
- Hiring and Growth: Participate in hiring new employees, fostering their development, and advocating for necessary equipment, tools, and training to enhance team performance.
- Team Collaboration: Work with Inside and Outside General Supervisors to maximize safe copper production, emphasizing teamwork and efficiency improvements.
- Employee Relations: Handle investigations, collaborate with the union, participate in grievances, and engage with shop stewards and safety representatives.
- Incident Management: Oversee incident investigations and ensure site-line corrective actions are completed.
- Shutdown Support: Collaborate with Mill Maintenance and Processing Team during shutdowns, addressing variances, solving problems, and driving solutions.

- Oversee ball truck operations (grinding media), Hiab operations (mill lining/parts delivery), vac truck and hydro blaster operations, dump truck/loaders/skid steers/mini excavators (material cleanup), reagent mixing, garbage truck operations, Moly packing, and recycler activities.
- Manage housekeeping for Mill, Crusher Convey, and Tailings, plus shutdown support (hole watch, fire watch, housekeeping).
- Manage all Janitorial resources on site to ensure standards are met in all areas.

- Communication: Deliver professional presentations in group settings and management meetings.
- Supervisor Support: Guide direct reports in development, training, goal-setting, and coverage planning.
Qualifications
- Proven supervisory experience in a union environment.
- 5-10 years of experience in an industrial setting.
- Strong planning and execution skills.
- Proficiency in SAP, Maximo, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Salary Range: CAD $135,000 - $167,000 per year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
