About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.
 
Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Management Superintendent, the Inventory Coordinator is responsible for supporting inventory control, analysis, and optimization within the Supply Chain Management team. This role is crucial for implementing leading practices in inventory management, reducing inventory levels, managing obsolescence, warranty claims, repairs and exchanges.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader; lead by example and foster a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on Teck’s values of health, safety, environment, and indigenous and community engagement.
  • Implement leading inventory management and optimization practices to improve stock performance and lifecycle outcomes.
  • Support obsolescence management activities, including potential asset disposal and surplus material management.
  • Perform detailed analytical analysis to support inventory planning, stocking strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Reliability, Asset Health, and Finance teams to support inventory needs.
  • Mentor and coach the current inventory analysts’ team to enhance their skills and leverage existing resources.
  • Utilize enterprise systems such as Maximo and/or SAP to analyze inventory data, reservations, usage trends, and appropriate stocking levels.
  • Manage and maintain complex Excel models and spreadsheets supporting multiple inventory initiatives and analyses.
  • Apply strong project management skills to structure work, track progress, manage competing priorities, and guide inventory initiatives through to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with data standards and governance.

Qualifications

 

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field such as Business & Supply Chain Management
  • SCMP designation preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, proven interpersonal skills and follow-up skills are required
  • Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision and function best in high performance work environments
  • Experience in inventory management software & tools
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite®, especially Outlook, Word and Excel 

 

Pay Range: CAD $83,000 - $103,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.


Working Conditions:

  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
