For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students with Engineering (Civil preferred), Construction Management, Architectural or Technology backgrounds.
If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you are willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. You are also currently a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Pay Range: CAD $4,100 - $6,000 per month
Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Supervise short-term schedules and update tracking tools as needed
- Maintain construction documentation, logs, and records
- Participate in field walks, meetings, and coordination sessions to gain exposure to construction management processes
- Support the coordination and integration of project delivery frameworks and work packaging systems
- Work with contractors and service providers to ensure that construction packages, plans, and work are complete and aligned with project requirements
- Help develop tools and visual aids to assess construction progress and work area readiness
- Participate in readiness and coordination meetings to support field execution planning
- Maintain efficiency and progress-tracking logs, supporting the implementation of digital tools to improve report comprehension
- Support initiatives to improve work front readiness and schedule reliability
- Promote best standards in project execution, efficiency, and constructability planning, referencing industry standards
- Assist in coordinating team communications, documentation, and cross-discipline information sharing of applicable tools and relevant reports
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an engineering (civil preferred), construction management, architectural or technology program (or equivalent)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Hands-on with a respectful, positive, solution-focused and eager to learn attitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft excel, word and related data management tools
- Familiarity with data visualization and automation tools such as Power BI or similar analytical platforms is preferred
- Exposure to ArcGIS spatial and mapping software is preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the co-op is required
All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug and medical screening prior to commencing work.
