Chemical Technician - I

Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Chemical Technician - 1 is responsible for providing assay testing on concentrate and ore samples in an efficient and safe manner.

To be successful, we are looking for someone who can work well with a team and as an individual depending on the task.  You are detail-oriented with an emphasis on safety and a familiarity with good laboratory practices. You are able to multi-task, stay organized, prioritize your work, and manage the handling of samples up to 25kg to keep the process moving efficiently. Since you will be engaging with multiple partners across our site, strong communication and interpersonal skills will be vital.

This opportunity works a 4x4 days and nights schedule. 

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Use your knowledge of WHMIS standards for lab safety to ensure the safe operation of the lab
• Complete regular data entry into Excel spreadsheets
• Physical preparation of samples involving crushing, pulverizing, splitting and mixing of mine and mill samples
• Complete classical and instrumental analysis for copper, molybdenum, iron, and arsenic on samples

Qualifications:

• Chemical or Environmental Technology diploma or degree with relevant subjects, or equivalent education in a relevant field
• Minimum three years related laboratory experience
• Familiar with AAS, ICP-OES, and LECO instruments and techniques
• Proven experience working safely with strong acids to digest mineralogical samples for assay
• Proven experience with the physical preparation and weighing of samples
• Valid BC driver’s license or equivalent
