Chemical Technician

We are currently seeking an individual in the role of: Chemical Technician.

 

Reporting to the Lab Supervisor in the Mill Technical Development Department, the incumbent will be accountable for the following:

  • Be a Courageous Safety Leader, through promotion and adherence to  established Safety and Environmental policies and procedures;
  • Full working knowledge of WHMIS standards for lab safety;
  • Data entry into Excel spreadsheets on a continuous basis;
  • Physical preparation of samples involving crushing, pulverizing, splitting and mixing of Mine and Mill samples;
  • Classical and instrumental analysis for copper, molybdenum, iron, and arsenic on Mine and Mill samples;
  • This position will be required to work shift work (2 twelve hour days shifts followed by 2 twelve hour nights shift followed by 4 days off).

Qualifications:

  • BCIT Chemical Sciences Technology diploma (or equivalent);
  • Three years related laboratory experience in an assay laboratory;
  • Familiar with AAS, ICP-OES and LECO instruments and techniques;
  • Proven experience working safely with strong acids to digest mineralogical samples for assay;
  • Proven experience with the physical preparation and weighing of samples
  • Able to work continuously on their feet and lift up 50lbs;
  • Must have Grade 12 certification (or equivalent);
  • Valid BC driver’s license (class 7N minimum) or equivalent.
