About Highland Valley Copper
Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.
Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.
Role Overview
For this position we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Engineering. This exciting opportunity will allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to handle challenges that may arise at a large scale mining operation.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader by adhering to and promoting safety and environmental policies, procedures, and standards
- Actively participate in Teck’s health, safety, and environmental programs to help ensure everyone goes home safe and healthy every day
- Maintain project documentation, update project tracking systems, and prepare reports and internal communications
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the planning, design, and execution of engineering and capital projects across site operations
- Assist with coordinating projects on active mine sites, including scope development, scheduling, cost control, and progress reporting
- Support project budgeting, cost estimating, forecasting, and variance analysis to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets
- Assist with contractor coordination, procurement activities, construction planning, and monitoring project progress to support successful project execution
- Contribute to project risk assessments, constructability reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance and business processes
- Research, evaluate, and implement innovative technologies and engineering solutions to improve operational efficiency and project outcomes
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Engineering
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a multifaceted work environment, with a willingness to work outdoors, and able to operate vehicles in various weather conditions and terrain
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate sophisticated ideas to all levels
- Previous work experience in a technical or engineering environment is an asset
- Experience with form design, macros, and data analysis is an asset
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite® of applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D would be an asset
- Able to work efficiently independently as well as part of the team
- Consistent track record to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the co-op is required

Pay Range: CAD $4833 - $5592 per month
