Role Overview
Reporting to the Director, Project Controls, the Project Controls Manager will be accountable for the development and implementation of project controls methods, procedures, and systems on Teck’s largest and most complex projects. The Project Controls Manager will be responsible for overseeing the project controls function within the Teck team, as well as overseeing that of any third-party consultants and contractors. While in study phases the role will generally be based out of the Santiago Teck office, with frequent visits to Quebrada Blanca, located at 4,400 msnm.

- Responsible to develop appropriate RFP criteria, define bid evaluation criteria, and conduct bid reviews of consultants and contractors in the function of Project Controls.
- Responsible for providing strategic input to the Project Director on key contractor selection.
- Responsible for evaluating service provider and/or contractor project controls systems and capabilities in advance of contract awards.
- Responsible for ensuring the project controls management plans are prepared and executed in a manner that provides accurate and timely control of project cost, schedule and scope.
- Responsible for the set-up and implementation of the project controls management systems, processes and workflows, and staffing of the project controls team.
- Responsible for ensuring PDG Project Controls Overviews and Standards are properly applied and followed on the project.
- Responsible for preparation and application of the project specific procedures and guidelines for project controls in alignment with the Project Procedures Manual.
- Responsible for integrating the cost, schedule, change management and contract/procurement plans and activities to ensure alignment in monitoring and reporting cost, schedule and progress
- Responsible for performing project control audits on service providers, as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in engineering, accounting, finance or business, or diploma in a trade is required.
- 15 years of project controls experience, with preference to construction of large and complex mining/industrial projects, is required.
- 10 years of project controls experience in an Owner’s role is required.
- 7 years of field experience is required.
- 5 years of experience in project controls roles of mega-projects is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management and project controls techniques and principles is required.
- Strong knowledge of the engineering and construction industry is required.
- Experience in leading and developing teams is required.
- Experience using cost control software such as Unifier or Cleopatra is considered an asset.
- Experience using a scheduling tool like MS Project or Primavera 6 is considered an asset.
- PEng or AScT registration considered an asset.
- CCP, CEP, PMP or other similar designations preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is considered a significant asset
