Project Manager, Legacy (Contract)

Collaborating with the Site Manager and working with a Teck Legacy projects team, as well as Teck Legacy technical leads, the Project Manager coordinates all aspects of technical and field activities at the Tulsequah Chief Mine. This includes health and safety management, project planning, service procurement, contract development and management, consultant management, oversight of field personnel and contractors, schedule, scope control, budget and cost control, and quality control/assurance.
The Project Manager may also be required to fill in as the Teck Representative at Site during summer field activities.

Responsibilities:

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures

Lead planning and execution of site field programs following Teck standards and small projects' framework, including scoping, scheduling, evaluating risks and opportunities, cost and resourcing requirements, and site/field communications.

Lead projects from initiation to closure with a committed goal of delivering complete scope on time and on budget, with a high level of quality and business happiness

Contribute to preparation, evaluation, recommendation and award of contracts, including preparation of scopes of work, requests for proposals, schedules, cost estimates and qualified bidder lists

Ensuring all projects have been accurately authorized for execution at each stage of the lifecycle

Ensuring execution of all phases of the projects are conducted in a responsible, safe manner where there are no unreasonable risks taken that would jeopardize safety in any way

Support and develop, in collaboration with technical leads, the review of all project stages, scopes, design criteria, studies, and constructability

Provide contractor management and oversight of external consultant and contractor teams

Supervise and coordinate contractor resources and ensure permits, contractor inductions and safe work plans are in place before work commences

Lead all aspects of field programs to ensure safe work practices and work performed meets specified requirements, including detailing observations and deficiencies and ensuring appropriate action is taken

Ensure development and management of contracts and change control processes are followed in compliance with Teck procedures

Prepare and maintain project documentation, including owner’s schedules, project charters, organization charts, project reports and project readiness assessments

Ensure project files are handled and stored in accordance with document control procedures, files are archived accordingly, and the project is closed out

Complete lessons learned sessions at end of projects
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 10 years demonstrated ability in project management in related fields such as water management, mining, infrastructure, geotechnical, environmental, or mechanical engineering

Engineering or Science degree in Environmental, Mining, Geotechnical, Civil, Mechanical, or other related field would be an asset
-
Professional accreditation or eligibility for registration is an asset (e.g., RPF, PBio, PAg, or PEng)
-
PMP designation is an asset
-
BC Mines Supervisor Certification is required; BC Shift Boss certification is an asset
-
Experience in project management of pre-feasibility or feasibility studies.

Experience acting as Owner Representative at sites
-
Experience with environmental legislation, industry standards and permitting processes in BC is helpful
-
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite®; SharePoint is valuable
-
Proven ability to work effectively independently and in a team-based environment
-
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
-
Strong communications and technical writing skills

The actual wage rate offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
