Maintenance Lead (Contract)
Kimberley, British Columbia, CA
Closing Date: December 31, 2024.
Teck is a leading Canadian resource company focused on responsibly providing the metals essential for global development and the energy transition while caring for the people, communities and land that we love.
Teck's two regional business units, North America and Latin America, are responsible for Teck's assets through all phases of safe, sustainable development, operation and closure. The business units are supported by enterprise-wide functions that set strategic direction, establish standards and provide governance, as well as supporting the business through shared services, centres of excellence and business partnering.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, the Maintenance Lead is responsible for supporting the management of maintenance of the surface and underground facilities of the reclaimed Sullivan Mine in Kimberley, BC in a safe, cost-effective and environmentally compliant manner. The primary activities at the site are the long-term collection and treatment of surface and groundwater influenced by acid rock drainage (ARD) to protect the environment. This requires a variety of infrastructure across multiple locations. Maintenance activities include but are not limited to, electrical systems, pumps, piping, instrumentation, underground workings, buildings and roads. The Maintenance Lead will also support efforts associated with implementing a preventative maintenance software program for the Sullivan Mine, growing the program to other Legacy sites. Maintenance activities are completed by third-party contractors throughout the year and include contractors who work solely at the Sullivan Mine (e.g. electricians) and other contractors on an as-needed basis (e.g. vegetation management). The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for ensuring contractor consistency with the BC Mines Code and Teck’s Health or equivalent experience and Safety policies and procedures and conducting regular job site inspections and audits.
Leadership forms the basis of a safe and balanced workplace and involves both making a dedication to putting health and safety into action and proactively leading it. The Maintenance Lead will lead by example in ensuring that safe and balanced working conditions are maintained and that workers (both contracted and employees) follow safe work practices and receive adequate training in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety.
