Under the guidance of the Advisor for Shareholder Development, the Job Shadow trainee will gain hands-on experience by collaborating with various departments within Red Dog Mine as well as Teck partners. This is a 10-week program, structured with alternating weeks on and off (totaling 20 weeks). This initiative offers a chance to develop professionally while maintaining a flexible schedule.

 

Rotation schedule will be 1 week on-site with 1 week off-site

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general manual labor duties including but not limited to assisting with cleanup
  • Perform labor intensive work when required
  • Complete work area safety inspections and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) cards as required
  • Abide by all of Teck Alaska’s policies
  • Assist with organization of areas as requested
  • Utilize small equipment
  • Communicate effectively with other operators, colleagues and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
  • Follow and enforce all established Safety and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required

Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Commitment to safety
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Manage time independently with limited supervision
  • Possess good communication skills
