Teck’s Trail Operations, located in the community of Trail in British Columbia, is one of the world’s largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Located in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern, British Columbia, Trail offers outdoor adventure at your fingertips. 

 

Role Overview

Application Deadline: February 19, 2026 (we will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis)
Duration:4 months
Start Date: May 11, 2026

Minimum Qualifications: Must currently be enrolled in a recognized and accredited Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the duration of the co-op term. You must be returning to a post-secondary institution after the co-op term is completed. If you are not currently located in the area of this co-op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co-op term. All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing prior to commencing work. Proof of a valid work permit will be required, if applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support Teck’s safety and environmental programs by following all safety rules, procedures, and safe work practices
  • Assist in promoting a safe and healthy work environment and a positive safety culture across Teck Trail operations
  • Participate in workplace inspections and safety observations, documenting findings and assisting with follow-up actions
  • Help monitor Health & Safety compliance with applicable legislation (e.g., WorkSafeBC) and internal Teck standards through data collection, tracking, and reporting
  • Support the preparation and administration of safety training materials, records, and attendance tracking
  • Help maintain Health & Safety systems, databases, and filing systems
  • Perform general administrative support for Teck Trail operations, including meeting coordination, report preparation, and document control
  • Contribute ideas and support continuous improvement initiatives related to Health & Safety and operational processes

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a College Diploma or University Degree program related to Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Interest in Health & Safety, industrial operations, or heavy industry environments
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with data tracking or reporting tools is an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Willingness to learn and apply Teck’s safety standards, procedures, and systems
  • Previous co-op, internship, or summer student experience in an industrial or operational environment is considered an asset

Pay Range: CAD $4,100-$5,300 per month

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
