Join our Water Quality Management team as they work to ensure the health of the local watershed, guided by the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan!
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, Water Treatment, the Laboratory Coordinator, Water Treatment is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of water treatment laboratory functions, including site sampling and quality assurance implementation.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who has strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Someone who is organized, detail oriented, and has strong troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Provide supervision, technical mentorship, and training to lab technicians, lab assistants, water samplers, and technicians performing lab duties
- Keep detailed records of laboratory spending and prepare monthly budget updates and forecasts
- Manage internal and external laboratory procedures and samples and advise personnel on process adjustments as needed
- Ensure that the laboratory quality management system is followed across all sites, including procedures and standards
- Accountable for proficiency testing performed by all water operations staff, with follow-up actions as required
- Lead the laboratory data management at assigned site, including the review of internal and external lab data, flagging data that needs validation
- Identify possible cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities
- Execute the evaluation and validation of new techniques, procedures and equipment
- Lead laboratory audits across water operations sites
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Sciences, or other relevant subject area
- Professional designation, such as AScT, P.T.Chem, R.B.Tech, or the ability to earn such a designation within six months of starting role
- Minimum five years of analytical laboratory experience
- Experience supervising or leading a team
- General knowledge of Water and Waste Water Treatment technology and processes would be an asset
- Strong digital literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite®, especially Excel and other data management tools
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License or equivalent
