The Coordinator, Social Performance, plays a supporting role in the implementation and coordination of social risk, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Lead, the Coordinator assists in ensuring effective integration of social performance across business functions and compliance with corporate and external standards. This role provides an excellent opportunity to build experience in social performance, community engagement, and responsible mining practices.
Responsibilities:
Social Performance & Risk Management
• Assist in maintaining and updating components of the Social Management System in coordination with the Senior Lead
• Responsible for preparing, submitting, managing and reporting on social data in a variety of systems
• Support the identification and tracking of social risks, engagement activities, and mitigation actions
• Aid in the collection and organization of data to support compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Community Management Standards, particularly in relation to
Risk, Social Performance, Closure, and Tailings
• Contribute to the development and scheduling of activities under the Annual Engagement Plan with Communities of Interest (COI)
• Assist in facilitating engagement tactics such as social risks assessments, and AOI/COI mapping
External Standards & Human Rights Compliance
• Support the monitoring and documentation of activities related to the Human Rights Risk Assessment and associated improvement plans
• Assist with tracking compliance with external commitments including GISTM, The Zinc Mark, ICMM Performance Expectations, and TSM
• Tailings Engagement
• Help share clear, accurate information about the tailings facility
• Assist with community meetings and preparedness activities
• Support logistics for site tours and community visits
• Help prepare materials that explain technical information in plain language
Stakeholder Engagement
• Coordinate, facilitate, and/or participate in engagement activities with community, including meeting logistics, materials, and notes
• Maintain records of engagement activities and prepare draft summaries for internal reporting
• Support communication and coordination efforts with internal and external stakeholders under the guidance of the Senior Lead
• Build and maintain relationships with COIs
Audit Preparedness
• Help maintain audit documentation and support readiness for internal and third-party audits
• Assist in tracking corrective actions and improvements identified through audit processes
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary degree and specialization in social sciences, sustainability, community development, or other fields related to environment, community relations and/or social management
• Minimum of three (3) years of work experience with indigenous communities and/or organizations. Experience in the natural resource sector would be an asset
• Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (ICMM, GISTM, TSM) is considered an advantage
• Strong cross-culture communication skills
• Excellent organizational and data management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality documentation
• Ability to build respectful relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders
• Comfort working in dynamic environments with shifting priorities
