Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Civil Engineering Intern

 

Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site

 

Reporting to the Project or Tailings Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring field construction activities to verify work is progressing in accordance with drawings, specifications, schedules, and safety requirements

• Support project execution planning, including constructability reviews and coordination with engineering and operations teams

• Assist with project scheduling and cost estimating, including quantity take-offs and progress tracking

• Support surveying activities, including data collection, layout verification, and interpretation of survey information

• Assist the Tailings group with routine inspections, monitoring, data collection, and documentation as required

• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and project documentation

• Ensure compliance with site safety protocols, environmental requirements, and company standards

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, operations, and safety personnel

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field

• Completed coursework in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction management, or surveying preferred

• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and field-based work environments

 

Required Skills

 

• Proven work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take initiative

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• Commitment to safety and attention to detail
