Technical Analyst Engineering Systems

Reporting to the Architect, Engineering Systems, the Technical Analyst, Engineering Systems is responsible for providing technical leadership, system support, and delivery of solutions focused on Mine Engineering, maintaining and implementation systems used for Mine Planning, Geology, and Scheduling for our operations around the world.

 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the application of new technology, including cloud-based software delivery. Someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, is able to work independently, and collaborate effectively in a remote working environment. To be successful you will have excellent problem solving skills and can stay positive while taking on any challenge. You will also be able to prioritize competing demands, while still meeting requirements.

 

This is an exciting chance to apply specialized digital technologies crafted to improve business processes for our mine engineering teams. In this role you will have the opportunity to engage with diverse engineering teams and senior leaders across our operations in North and South America. Dependent on your experience and aptitude you may get to work in data analytics or with other digital systems teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Plan and implement updates to new and existing specialized Mine Engineering systems
  • Lead sustainment of systems for geology, scheduling, and mine planning
  • Build systems specifications documents as well as external systems design documentation, Perform software design, development, unit and integration testing.
  • Provide Application support as well as Vendor Engagement and leadership to ensure resolution of support related issues
  • Elicit detailed functional and non-functional requirements as well as process optimization activities to ensure business needs and requirements are captured
  • Perform software development and testing and lead small to medium sized software projects

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three years digital systems experience, ideally in a mining engineering environment
  • In-depth understanding of SQL, software development, T-SQL, database design experience with Power BI / Analytics
  • Scripting experience with tools such as Perl, Python, Bash, PowerShell, or JavaScript
  • Good problem solving, system analysis, and design skills
