Reporting to the Senior Lead, Biodiversity, the Data Management Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of biodiversity data management requirements across Teck. This position is essential in support of Teck’s world-leading biodiversity program and for compliance with regulatory conditions relating to rehabilitation and biodiversity management.
Responsibilities

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures

Help implement and maintain a standard method for biodiversity loss gain accounting using a centralized data management approach

Coordinate data updates and figure production for biodiversity reporting

Support mine planning on datasets and web map products as the need arises for biodiversity mitigation actions

QA/QC of all internal and consultant data sets for biodiversity

Coordination and integration of internal and consultant data into the centralized Teck database associated with the Biodiversity Program including ecosystem mapping, private land holdings, disturbance boundaries and spatial imaging products

Support the implementation and updating of a restoration research database framework

Continuity between site and corporate Biodiversity and Data Management departments
Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience working with GIS systems

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, or diploma in Geographic Information Systems with associated background in environmental GIS applications

Proficient in geographic information systems with experience in environmental data management, analysis and reporting

Background in biodiversity and landscape-level data management

Excellent project management and planning skills

Good interpersonal and communication skills

The ability to manage competing priorities

Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with proven problem-solving skills

Ability to travel and work remotely for periods of time

Salary Range: $73,000 - $90,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
