Role Overview

The Business Analytics Specialist is a core member of Teck’s Operations Excellence Improvement Team, a small corporate group that augments site improvement efforts. This position is a member of a team responsible for the development, execution, and sustainment of continuous improvement initiatives to achieve business value across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Courageous Safety Leadership
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures with a particular focus on understanding and complying with all site access and safety regulations across Teck’s operating sites.
• Data Analysis: 
  • Be the primary source of reliable data and rock-solid analysis, providing the fact base the team uses to make decisions. 
  • Act as a core resource in ranging exercises, predictive analytics, performance reporting, economic modelling, and value chain mapping to help Teck leaders make data driven decisions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain business analytics solutions and reporting tools to transform data into valuable insights and drive informed decision-making. Create performance tracking dashboards and advanced / predictive analytics using tools like Monte Carlo, Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, Azure Databricks, etc.
• Contribute to Improvement Pipeline: 
  • Develop implementation plans for portfolio of initiatives that have clear business cases and buy-in from key stakeholders, aligned with Teck’s strategic pipeline.
  • Track the performance of your improvement initiatives via key metrics such as KPI impact, end user adoption, schedule & cost.
  • In addition, collaborate with teams to proactively identify risks, issues and/or opportunities to ensure the maximum business value delivered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of professional in process improvement, cost reduction, mining operations, engineering, and planning.
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
• Experience with databases, data analytics, and business intelligence tools (SQL, PowerBI, Python).
• Excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
