Role Overview
Strategy Planning & Performance, Business Analyst Co-Op

Teck's two regional business units, North America and Latin America, oversee Teck's assets through all phases of safe, sustainable development, operation and closure. The business units are supported by enterprise-wide functions that set strategic direction, establish standards and provide governance, as well as supporting the business through shared services, centres of excellence and business partnering.
The Business Analyst Co-Op will work closely with the Senior Business Advisor to drive performance reporting, metric tracking, and process improvements aligned with our Management Operating System. This role is ideal for someone who is strategic by nature, analytically inclined, detail-oriented, and passionate about the intersection of business and technology. You will gain exposure to real-world scenarios around strategy, planning and performance in a multi-national corporation and develop and present consulting-level presentations, while leveraging your practical programming capabilities to streamline analytical tasks.
The role will also be supporting the Teck Digital Systems’ (TDS) Strategy, Planning & Performance department in facilitating planning routines for TDS’ leadership team and engagement with relevant TDS stakeholders. The individual will work with TDS business partners including organizational change management, finance, human resources, communications, and risk management. The individual will ensure clear, concise communication by leveraging communications skills and supporting in service buildout objectives for the Performance Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Contribute to the design and development of strategic processes in an agile environment, ensuring TDS and general SPP departmental objectives are met
- Create detailed reporting presentations and documentation for TDS stakeholders
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and accurate reflections of TDS service areas’ performance
- Develop communications strategies to transform business needs to drive performance improvement
- Support in the service build out process for the Performance Team by leveraging business strategy frameworks
- Build and maintain comprehensive documentation for performance management processes, and procedures
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration / Commerce, Economics, Information Technology, Marketing, Engineering
- Expert at analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and at identifying and analyzing large volumes of information
- Demonstrated passion for the intersection of business and technology, with practical understanding of programming concepts.
- Proven ability to create polished, consulting-level presentation slides.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly communicate data-driven insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated, with a proven ability to learn new technologies and methodologies on the job.
- Experience with process mapping or business process improvement is an asset.
- Familiarity with performance management frameworks, key performance indicators (KPIs), or business operating systems is a plus.
- Ability to work well in a dynamic team while balancing multiple assignments simultaneously with tight deadlines
- Case Competition Experience is strongly preferred
- Experience in Business Process Analysis and Development is an asset
- Experience with Corporate Communication and Change Management is an asset
- Proficiency in Spanish is an asset
