Role Overview
Reporting to the Group Leader, the Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice is responsible for the below.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy-duty equipment using proper tools and guidance
- Operate equipment and use diagnostic tools to identify issues
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 (please submit a copy of certificate to application)
- Completion of a Heavy Duty Mechanic Foundation course and/or
- Minimum of 1 year as a sponsored Heavy Duty Mechanic Foundation apprentice and
- Successful completion of 1 or more years of technical training
- Required to have a Valid Driver’s License, preference to Class 1 or 3 with Air endorsement
- Related industrial maintenance experience is preferred
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems is considered an asset
In addition, our Apprentices receive a variety of advantages including:
- Financial assistance to help with travel and relocation costs
- Teck covers the cost of required technical training and schooling for the apprenticeship program, including tuition, mandatory textbooks, and required materials
- Apprentices also receive salary coverage while attending technical training
- Apprentices are provided the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working alongside certified Journeypersons
- Structured on-the-job training is combined with formal technical training to ensure successful completion of the apprenticeship program
- Ongoing mentorship and performance support throughout the apprenticeship
Pay Range: $36.56 - $46.03
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
