Teck's Anchorage office is home to an administrative team supporting our Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest zinc mines, which is operated under an innovative agreement between Teck and landowner NANA, a Regional Alaska Native corporation owned by the Iñupiat of northwest Alaska.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Contracts Lead, the Contracts Administrator supports the sourcing, administration, and ongoing management of service contracts and commercial agreements for Red Dog Operations. The role coordinates competitive sourcing activities, assists with commercial negotiations, and supports supplier relationship management while ensuring compliance with Teck policies, legal requirements, and operational objectives.
The Contracts Administrator works collaboratively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, Finance, and Legal to deliver commercially sound agreements that support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.
Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Administer service agreements, Master Service Agreements (MSAs), purchase agreements, and other commercial contracts throughout their lifecycle
- Prepare, review, and administer contract amendments, renewals, extensions, and change orders
- Maintain accurate contract records, commercial documentation, and contract management systems to support compliance and proactively track contract milestones, deliverables, renewals, and expirations
- Support audits and internal reviews by providing contract documentation and analysis
- Coordinate competitive sourcing activities, including bid preparation, bid evaluations, commercial analysis, and contract award recommendations
- Evaluate supplier proposals for commercial competitiveness, compliance, capability, and value
- Assist with commercial negotiations, including pricing, payment terms, warranties, and other contractual provisions within delegated authority
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support commercially sound contracting solutions and provide guidance on contracting processes and contract administration under the direction of the Contracts Lead
- Provide commercial and contractual support for operational, shutdown, sustaining capital, and project activities
- Ensure contracting activities comply with company policies, applicable legislation, the Red Dog Contracting Procedures Manual, and the NANA/Teck Operating Agreement
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and escalate complex issues to the Contracts Lead while assisting in the development of practical risk mitigation strategies
- Assist in improving contract templates, workflows, processes, and systems to enhance operational efficiency and compliance
- Demonstrate a visible commitment to Teck's Health, Safety, Environment, and Community standards and maintain compliance with the Code of Ethics
- Maintain a working knowledge of Red Dog Operations and business processes to effectively support operational requirements
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Law, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in contract administration, procurement, supply chain, or a related commercial role, preferably in a heavy industrial setting, EPCM, or government procurement setting. Experience with contract drafting, evaluation, negotiation, and administration is preferred
- Working knowledge of commercial contracting principles, procurement processes, contract administration practices, and the ability to interpret commercial terms, insurance requirements, and contract language
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate commercial risk and develop practical solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and meeting established deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working with SAP, ERP, procurement, or contract lifecycle management systems is considered an asset
