Reporting to the Contracts Lead, the Contract Administrator is accountable for coordination and administration of agreements for Red Dog Operations in accordance with Teck Alaska, Incorporated (TAK) policies, legal requirements and customer specifications.
The position is a mix of tactical procurement and strategic activities. The Contract Administrator prepares bid lists, solicits quotations, processes requisitions and Purchase orders, creates and administers Agreements. The Contract Administrator negotiates favorable commercial terms, pricing, warranties and terms of payment; and at times, interfaces with Teck’s legal group on contract revisions.
Responsibilities:
• Establishes and promotes a Safe and Healthy-working environment through personal commitment to the principles of the Red Dog Operations Health & Safety Policy and ensure personal compliance
• Operates accordingly under the NANA/Teck Operating Agreement and follows procedural steps outlined in the Red Dog Contracting Procedures Manual
• Ensures that requisitions issued are complete in every respect and that they accurately describe the services required by the Client; that the legal requirements have been reviewed and all necessary approvals have been acquired; additionally ensure all regulatory requirements have been met
• Leads the change process with Clients
• Initiates Agreements and ongoing administration of existing Agreements
• Uses data analytics to monitor trends, progress and reporting to decision makers
• Evaluates sources of service to ensure that the suppliers chosen are competent to deliver the proper quality of service at the best possible price in the time required
• Establishes reliable business relationships with contractors/suppliers to ensure quick response to TAK's needs and to keep abreast of new products, services and technologies; conduct interviews with representatives keeping them informed of TAK procedures and policies
• Prepares bid lists; solicit quotations, evaluation and recommend vendor selection; prior to order placement ensure there are no detrimental aspects with regards to commercial terms, patent infringements, labor agreements, legal requirements
• Maintains understanding of Red Dog Operations and specifically have a good general knowledge of the operations processes and the equipment associated with them
• Initiates and leads change that improves the Department’s functions and further integrates technology into the contracting process
• Maintain a professional manner and comply with the meaning and intent of Teck’s Code of Ethics
• Models communications on both Teck and NANA Values
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree (in Business or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree
• Understanding of legal principles, insurance and contracting language and administrative processes
• 3-5 years contracting experience, preferably in a heavy industrial setting, EPCM or government procurement setting
• Professional approach, demeanor and exceptional communication and written skills
• Exceptional use of all Microsoft products, specifically PowerBI and SharePoint
• Learning agility to incorporate lessons learned to improve processes
• Adaptability to manage varying priorities, assignments, workload and communication styles
