Senior Instructional Designer (Contract)

The Senior Instructional Designer will be responsible for leading all aspects of curriculum development, including the effective design, development and delivery of training through Teck’s Learning Management System, as well as class-based and on-the-job training. You will play a meaningful role in supporting and evolving the organization’s training initiatives, with overall responsibility for e-learning and curriculum design and development. This position offers a 6-month contract to start, with a potential for extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

  • Develop new courses in Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise and working with subject matter experts to plan, review and revise material for each business unit

  • Develop a training tailored program, including content creation, curriculum design, and instructional materials development

  • Implement assessment methods to verify user competence throughout the training program, including continuous evaluation and formal assessments at the program's conclusion

  • Conduct post-training evaluations at intervals of 3, 6, and 9 months to ensure the retention and application of acquired skills, adjusting training strategies as needed to improve long-term efficiency

  • Update course information, videos, graphics in Storyline and Rise

  • Launch new and updated courses in Teck’s LMS, Success Factors

  • Participate in the assessment of the training needs of internal business clients and prioritize eLearning initiatives

  • Transcribe needs analysis and functional specifications into detailed training materials

  • Support ongoing improvements in the efficiency of training content and changing delivery methods

  • Provide support for instructors and end-users using designated curricula in all modalities

 

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years’ work experience directly related to enterprise instructional design

  • 5+ years of proven experience with learning methods and crafting learning content for adult learners

  • Deep understanding of eLearning solutions in a corporate environment

  • Undergraduate degree in Adult Education, Media Studies, Education Technology or a related field

  • Experience crafting and developing eLearning material using authoring tools such as: Easy Generator, Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline, Lectora

  • Hands-on experience with media converters, audio editors and converters, video editing software

  • LMS administration proficiency

The actual wage rate offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
