Requirements

Successful candidates must be motivated self-starters, able to work under minimal supervision and be able to manage several projects simultaneously. 

The positions also require strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary, and a working knowledge of PowerPoint and HRIS would be advantageous.

All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing prior to commencing work.

Desired Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources
  • Previous Co-op experience is an asset
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to take initiative

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Co-op Student hired by Teck Resources Ltd will be given the opportunity to practice their skills in all aspects of the Human Resources Department. The major responsibilities of the Human Resources Co-op Student are as follows:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Provide administrative support to the appropriate Human Resources Business Partners/Leads as required
  • Maintains calendar, scheduling and logistics to support Leadership and other employee learning & development programs
  • Maintains & tracks expenses, budget & reviews monthly by completing detailed expense reports for all areas
  • Collaborate with finance department in order to track and ensure payment for all invoices
  • Help to track and develop metrics for measuring effectiveness of Talent Management programs
  • Coordinates travel arrangements and creation of trip itineraries as necessary
  • Follows up on various activities to ensure closure, completion and deadlines are met
  • Maintains and organized electronic filing system archival of all talent materials
  • Works independently on specific projects as assigned
