Geoscience/Geochemistry Co-op

Location:

Vancouver, British Columbia, CA

Application Deadline: Monday June 3, 2024 (we will review applications on a rolling-basis)

Duration: 4 months

Positions Available: 1

Start Date: Monday, September 9, 2024

As part of the Teck’s Exploration and Geoscience Services Group, the Geoscience Co-op will have the opportunity to contribute to key data-driven geochemistry-focused initiatives. Working with a team of domain experts that applies the fundamental principles of geochemistry to generative exploration workflows, there is a phenomenal opportunity to better understand Teck’s orebodies within the Discovery Excellence group. The primary objective of this role is to compile a whole-rock and mineral chemistry database and geochronology database. A secondary objective is supporting the evaluation of these datasets for prospectivity for different deposit types. Through this role, we can provide an excellent opportunity to improve data analysis and data compilation skills while gaining valuable insights into generative exploration. The ideal candidate is keen to deepen their understanding of the application of geochemistry for area selection and prospectivity on a regional scale in magmatic-hydrothermal systems and equally keen on machine learning and data science. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.
